The meeting, which included the Mayor of the Capital, Hammoud Abbad, the head of the emergency room in the secretariat, Abdul Wahab Sharaf El-Din, and the director of the council’s branch in the secretariat, Abdullah Al-Naimi, and representatives of international and local organizations, reviewed preliminary statistics on the damage suffered by a number of homes and properties of citizens in the capital secretariat as a result of torrential rains and torrential rains, and emergency needs. For the rescue, shelter and food for the afflicted.
According to the statistics, the number of affected families reached more than three thousand families in the various districts of the capital, including the demolition of houses, the fall of some of them, the damage of some roofs and cracks of walls, as well as some of them threatened with collapse. food.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs called on international organizations to cooperate and interact with the call of the Capital Secretariat and the emergency room to contribute to supporting their efforts in the rescue process and providing shelter and food materials to those affected by flood disasters.
He stressed the importance of the role of international and local organizations in emergency response and implementation of urgent intervention programs in various tracks.. He stressed that the issue of flood disasters was discussed with the United Nations during the past year, and they were presented with a list of emergency needs and interventions related to the rescue and shelter operation, renting rescue equipment, opening streets and draining water. For his part, the mayor of the capital expressed his dissatisfaction with the absence of the role of international organizations in emergency response work and support for the secretariat’s efforts in urgent interventions to provide the requirements and needs of emergency work and to confront rain and flood disasters.
He stressed that the nature of the work of international organizations and among the priorities of their tasks is to implement urgent intervention programs and emergency response to save the lives and property of citizens and provide relief and shelter materials.. He stressed the keenness of the Secretariat and the branch of the Humanitarian Affairs Council to direct the activities and programs of the organization towards the real and actual need of citizens.
Obad pointed out that the Capital Municipality will never allow international and local organizations at the present time to work outside the scope of the emergency and to respond to the emergency needs of citizens.
In turn, the director of the branch of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Secretariat, Abdullah Al-Naimi, reviewed the response of some international organizations to emergency response and urgent interventions.. He affirmed the council’s readiness to urgently provide all facilities and permits to international organizations to enable them to carry out emergency response work and contribute to providing the requirements and needs of families affected by food and shelter floods.
In the meeting, in the presence of the director of the hygiene project, Ibrahim Al-Sarabi, a number of representatives of international organizations in Yemen reviewed the difficulties that organizations face in implementing emergency response programs, stressing the need to quickly give them licenses and provide them with lists of sites, homes, affected families and the required needs, and coordinate efforts between the council and organizations to ensure the implementation of necessary and emergency interventions. targeting afflicted families.
In addition, the Al-Amal Microfinance Bank, in the presence of the Mayor of the Capital and the Head of the Branch of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs, today handed over 500 tarballs measuring 8 meters by 6 meters to the Supreme Council, as a contribution from it within the framework of responsibility and community service to provide urgent assistance for temporary protection of homes threatened with collapse due to heavy rains in the capital.
