Our Commitment to Sustainability

Amid today’s environmental and social challenges, Al-Amal Bank stands as a financial beacon committed to sustainability in Yemen. Since its establishment, the Bank has believed in the importance of sustainable development—not only as an environmental and social responsibility, but also as a fundamental pillar for achieving economic growth and community prosperity.

The Bank provides sustainable financial services that aim to empower low-income groups, support small and micro-enterprises, and enhance both economic and social development. Believing in its role in advancing sustainability, the Bank—represented by its Board of Directors and Executive Management—commits to adopting best environmental and social practices that ensure minimizing environmental impact and promoting fair and responsible financial inclusion.

Our pioneering steps toward sustainability:

① Launching the Green Banking Initiative (2022): An initiative designed to stimulate green financing and investments in sustainable projects, with a focus on renewable energy and resource efficiency.

② Adopting the Environmental Policy (2023): An official document outlining the Bank’s environmental commitments and integrating environmental considerations into its financing operations, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

③ Issuing the Environmental and Social Risk Management Guideline (2024): A comprehensive framework for assessing and managing environmental and social risks in the Bank’s activities, ensuring compliance with leading international standards.

④ Establishing the Sustainability and Climate Action Unit (2024): A specialized unit reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, dedicated to developing and implementing sustainability policies and promoting environmental and social awareness within and beyond the Bank.
